NWQN Rnd. 5 Pacific Raceways, Auburn, WA

Finally the Powder Pimp team was able to make it to another round of the Northwest Quad Nationals last weekend in Auburn. We were missing a few members, but we still made it a memorable one. Bill, Jay, and Troy were the sole members for the race, but we were supported by Rick and Sherri in the Pits.

We headed to the track on Friday afternoon for a late day practice. We got the pits set up and then to the track. The track was ROUGH! We only did 3 practice heats and called it a night. For training that night we hooked up the xbox 360 to a projector and played on the back of the trailer.

Race day was here and we woke early to register. There was an early practice and the track was perfect and ready to race. Bill was in Race 2, Production B class. He was on the line with a total of 6 in his class. Bill got a bad start due to the new starting procedures. Bill pulled 5th on the Holeshot. Within the first lap of 4 he was in 3rd position. Bill battled hard and pulled a big gap between him and 4th. Finishing 3rd in the first heat, Bill had a good gate pick for the main moto.

In the second moto Bill pulled the Holeshot and lead for more than 1 lap when Devers passed him for the lead. Bill kept fighting, racing as hard as he could. After over-jumping a stepdown Bill lost one more place to finish 3rd overall. A hardfought race for #99 that ended with a Podium finish!

Now it was time for Race 8. Troy and Jay competed in the Production C class, also with 6 riders in this class. The gate dropped in Heat 1, Troy pulled 2nd and Jay 5th out of the Holeshot. There positions held thru the first lap. Troy started getting thumb pain and the rest of the class passed him. Both ran a good race with Jay ending 4th and Troy 5th for Heat 1.

Time for the main event. Luckily the #2 pick showed up late to the gates and both Jay and Troy got better gate selection than expected. The gate fell and Jay pulled the hole with Troy in 4th. Jay led for half of the 3 laps, when fatigue set in. He was passed by one rider and had a big gap between him and the rest of the pack. Troy had some bike issues with the throttle, but was able to finish. Jay ended up 2nd overall, his first Podium finish! Troy ended up 6th, but vowed to come back strong in 2 weeks at Straddleline.

Check back in a couple of weeks for more results.

NWQN Rd. 2 Straddleline ORV Park

The race weekend started out great. Bill, Jay, and Leanna arrived at the track Friday night to walk the track and get things set up for Saturday. The track was rough and muddy. On Saturday morning Todd showed up and they were still working on grooming the track. So practive began and it was a muddy mess! Now it was time for some Racing.

Heat 1 started, Jay was in Race #2. Jay came out of the holeshot 3rd, but lost a couple of positions in lap 1. In lap 2 he passed a rider on a double to take the 4th position. On the final lap, at the same place on the track, passed another rider and took over the 3rd position and held it to the checkered flag.

The 2nd heat for Jay started great with him pulling the holeshot. On the second turn he was bumped and spun out leaving him in the 6th spot. He charged back and we in the 3rd position before he crashed and burned on a kicker. He posted a DNF, but he and his bike are ok, except for being sore from his knees up!

Bill was in Race #4. He pulled the holeshot and and kept the lead all 4 laps. He was constanly being challenged from a very strong rider, but was able to hold him off for the win in heat 1.

There wasn't much change in heat #2. Bill the the HS and was leading for 3 laps. The same rider as in heat 1 was close behind. Finally in the whoops, Bill's hand slipped of the bars and the rider snuck passed hip. Bill charged hard to catch up, but there just wasn't enough time. Bill pulled a 2nd place finish in Heat 2 and a 2nd overall!

Leanna was ready for her first race on the New Suzuki 450. She started well, somewhere in the middle of pack. She rode strong and on the last lap she passed 2 riders in the whoops to secure a 3rd place finish in heat 1.

Heat 2 started with her in 6th place out of the hole. She rode well but was unable to pass. She ended up 6th in heat 2 with a 5th place overall. She rode great!

Todd was in race 13. He had trouble with his clutch in the heat 1 HS. On the first jump he tangled with another rider and let him pass. Now in last he was on a mission. Todd caught up and passed all 5 riders to take the checkered flag! and he said he was sick!

In heat 2 he came back with his bike back to par. He pulled the HS and took it all the way to the checkered flag. He was challenged by one rider, but was able to hold him off. Todd took the 1st place overall.

It was a great race weekend for the Powder Pimp Race team. We will update you in a couple of weeks after the Spokane race.

WORCS Rd.4 Pacific Raceways Auburn, WA

So on monday they called for rain all week, but on friday we have had minimal rain and the track conditions were great. Bill and Paige headed down Friday and found the track to packed. Leanna and I took off on Sat. morning thru the rain and snow. When we got to the track it was perfect. Bill ran the unclassified race and got rained on a bit, but not enough to mud-out the track. About 1100 Rick and Sherry showed up for some big time support.

So at 1200 Bill and I geared up for our 1235 start. When we showed up at the line there were at least 10 Ute's lined up with us. This biggest Ute turn out yet! This made me a little nervous, but i worked thru it.

Then the flag threw, Bill took the holeshot, I wasnt far behind coming out 4th after the first turn. The mx track was sweeet! Bill hit the woods 1st and I was in 5th. And then the beating began. The woods were wooped, rocky, tight, and ROUGH. A lot of work to throw around a 600+ lbs. bike around. Bill battled with the Owner of WORCS the entire race, just finishing 2nd, only 3 seconds behind the winner. I was fast in the woods, but no place to pass, and the 4th place guy just was too fast for me on the mx, so I came home 5th.

So usually the pay out and trophies go to the top 33%. So we waited for Bill's Trophy and prizes, too find out that only the 1st place winner gets prizes in this class. So the Owner of the race gets the trophy and discounts? After all he is the one who built the track and has been at the track for over 2 weeks. So does he deserve to take the prizes? I dont think so! Also did he even have to pay the $50 race fee?

Well it was a great race, but WORCS left a bad taste in our mouths.
